FedScoop: Energy’s AI director reviewing 600-plus projects for technologies worth replicating

Written by ID Technologies    March 3, 2020

FedScoop recently reported that “The Department of Energy’s first artificial intelligence director is currently reviewing more than 600 AI projects across its agencies to identify ‘critical’ technologies worth advancing and replicating” (Nyczepir). Earlier in February, Cheryl Ingstad was named head of DOE’s new Artificial Intelligence and Technology Office (AITO) and just recently, the Trump administration proposed funding AITO at $5 million in fiscal 2021.

ID Tec acknowledges this important push to apply AI across the board, as “DOE is working on AI projects that will improve and save lives much like electricity did historically” (Nyczepir).
